Trango Cinch as a lanyard adjuster?

Im considering the Trango Cinch as my lanyard adjuster..

Anyone who as ever tried using it as an adjuster? Does it grab the rope quickly? Releases easily under load?

 

Its only going to be used for recreational treeclimbing.

Yes, it's a very good device for lanyards though you probably won't need to use the handle and, if like me you wear it on the left, it'll be upside down.

 

Oh and apparently they've stopped making them.

 

Expect something new to come along in a short while.

Nope, saw on the right, Cinch on the left, Snap from left to right every time.

I use a cinch too, have done for about 5 years.

 

Never understood the lefty lanyard thing though, lanyard on the right, saw floats between sides depending where I'm cutting.

The Cinch is the best device I've used, for me anyway. 10mm rope runs well in it.

Does the Cinch grab the rope quickly when weight is put on it?

Depends a bit on the diameter of cord you put in it.

 

11mm yes, 10 or thinner it can slip through. I use 10mm as I like to be able to pull slack through one handed.

I wore my cinch out, have gone back to a knot and prefer it as it's more versatile, the cinch is good though, simple and no fuss.

 

Wear mine on the left to as my first harness used to have the tool clip on the and it would irritate me to have my tool lanyard twist up with my side strop. I use to twist the body rather than use the handle to pay out slack.
