Husqvarna 298 to buy or not to buy!?

Hi All,

 

Recently been offered a Husqvarna 298 as spares, it has no chain or chain brake, but apart from that its all there and in good nick!

 

What is the general spares situation for these saws like?

Good saw? Worth adding to my collection !?

Big powerful older Husky, need to be beefy to pull them over as the starter pulley is a tad small.

 

Spares can be an issue but they are decent saws

I've a 2101 which is pretty much the same saw......

Haha ok so Sounds like it will shortly be coming home with me!

 

Any idea where I could get some chain brake spares!? Don't want to be using it without one!

 

Any tips to get the most out of her spud?

For chainbrake spares you will have to buy a saw with a working brake... or travel at least 15years into the past

Good saw iv got one

Biggest problem is finding spares

Husq do still stock some parts for the saw but very little

Slap a bit bar on it 36inch

I used mine with out no chain brake for a while it won't kick in big wood unless ur being stupid with it

My 298 on a 36inch bar will out cut a 076 stihl on a 36inch bar

Look it up on YouTube there is about 3 vids of my 298 on there even a milling vid
