Most larger organisations now use external verification processes and as part of this, the easiest way to tick the environmental, quality and health and safety boxes is to ask for ISO accreditation or similar.

It's a way of thinning the applicants at the PQQ stage. Unfortunately, this is the way of larger organisations now. If you get 'thinned' at the first stage, find out who won and then ask them if you can bid to do the work on their behalf. working as a sub-contractor to the main contractor is often less onerous on the paperwork front.

some of the contracts here stipulate a green policy, things like vehicles having the most fuel effecient tyres, serviced regually so engine is performing efficiently, bio fuel, taking a eco driving course, using vehicles under 5years old, saws and fuels carried are in a bunk that can contain any spillage

I would imagine that "wildlife" issues you could mention would get NE,s attention. Subjects such as awareness of bad roosts and the ability to identify them, nesting birds, wild game bird requirments, crayfish and newt habitat protection. These, other than the game bird issue, were at the top of the governments wildlife agenda/ important list a couple of years back. Some knowledge re these issues may score extra points towards getting the contract. Just trying to help, good luck...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.

Thank you all for your input, very helpful. I've been doing this stuff for them for a few years now, but this is the first time they've asked for this.

My degree is in Ecology, so I like to think that I'm pretty genned up on this sort of stuff. Never thought of putting it on a tender though. Cheers.
