How best to do a house sign.

I have been asked to make up a house sign for neighbor. I have had a practice in the workshop first carving with chisels then using a router. Can't say I am happy with what I did either way. Carving was very slow so going to be expensive and routing left marks that needed cleaning out with a chisel afterwards. My customer want's it unpainted so what would be the best way to go about it?

Another problem was simply drawing the lettering I have printed off onto the wood. I could just draw freehand but it needs to look crisp and neat and my drawing is not up to that.

Any help welcome

Alternatively give me quote

Burn marks usually means, blunt or going to slow. As for the levels I find that sometimes it's just that your not adding the right pressure when your going for the second pass. I always use a smaller cutter anyway I find it easier, I also use a chisel to to get rid of burrs and then a light sand.

I was using a bullnose cutter. Do you do most of yours with a straight cutter?
