The newer "quick fit" links are like a bigger version of an airline and are supposed to make life easier by just pushing together but can be an absolute pig if there is any residual pressure in either side of the hydraulics.

they certainly can, i always have to take the spanners to my new ones to release the pressure:mad1:

easiest way to drop pressure out of the hydraulic line was to stop engine and wiggle the spool lever for the associated spool valve then the implement pipe male end give it a press on something hard to drop the pressure out of that pipe. that generally works when fitting stuff to our jcb telehandler or any of my machinery

the one for the crane is a button mate, so no wiggling possible:thumbdown:but the pressure is on the attachment, still a pain. not exactly quick hitch:sneaky2:

alot of elctro-hydraulic systems run a dump facilitie by having the ignition on for 10 seconds and pressing the button either way, obviouslly the engine not running.

Also hitting the end of the conector on something hard is not a good idea because in time you will bur the end and either it will leak or stop working , 2 spanners of the right size crack the coupling off.

common term used in agriculture, look on any new tractor literacture and it generally lists the amount of spool valves the machine will have

I always thought they were referring to the "spool valves" that make up the "spool block".
