I'm deeply hurt that you think my chip truck was a bin lorry:sad:

It was built that way as I always liked the look of american chip trucks.

I like it Ed :001_smile:

If it had been 4x4 I'd have snapped it up, but then you wouldn't be selling it if is had of been :sleep1:

Agree with you on the american chip truck look. If I had my own business I would have have snatched that lorry up, love it.

Ditto.

Chipbox AND the toolbox are to big.

Stevie, Unimogs have some great points, but their main downfall is their rarity, meaning old clapped out ones command high money, and decent ones are silly silly prices. They are also too complex, so breakdowns are common and expensive, and to small to operate as a serious truck.

I might buy one again for utility work, but for its compactness in working on tight lanes.

i agree with you 100% edd, i work close to home, my yard is on a farm, i usually have to reverse in around tight winding driveways, and most of our towns are built on a hill, and i use mine solely as a chip truck, but i really need a hiab built on the rear and stick a chipper on the front. after reading hucks coments about his running cost i realise i do not carry out regular maintenance till it breaks down, so i had a quick look round her today, spotted a few potential headaches to come and ordered a few parts. job done, i have found it is the air system that has given me the most hassle,

that could of been avoided by regular clean outs. :001_smile:

I had a U1700AG, the air system gave me endless frustration. Probably down to zero maintainence on the previous owners part. To be fair, in 12 months it never let me down, but it used to leak air, oil, water and hydraulic fluid everywhere we went.

mine is pretty tight, it was like new when i got it, i have replaced most of the valves, i bleed the air tanks every night and always have done. but crap still does build up. but i am going to make a point of getting them cleaned out regularely.:001_smile:
