Sorry my friend, but that simply isn't the case - it weights at least the same. The specs state 4.9 kg for the 550xp, and 5.0 for the Echo.

 

Also the Echo 500 put out almost a full hp less power, and that isn't within what a muffler mod can "fix".

I have not tried the 550XP but do have a 560XP and a ported 346XP on a 15" bar driven by an 8 pin . I would think the ported 346 would be similar to the 550 and on that basis I would recommend the 550 if you want a quality 50cc saw .

hello stubby your 346 sounds a nice hot saw running on the 8pin sprocket

have you thought about doing the the same to the 560, porting and 8 pin:thumbup::thumbup:

560 has been worked on . It wears an 18" and I prefer a 7 pin and just lean on the torque . on a 15" its ok with an 8 pin .
