Never! once had a HSE guy call on site, years ago,he looked over our saws etc,one of mine was a 1979 020 with no chain brake, but because it was as it had been at the time of manufacture and i was self employed,he said it was OK,as long as no one else used it, he checked our pants and then asked where our neck protection was, we all looked at each other puzzled,it seemed that had been a site where they all had the rain flaps in their hats and thought it was some kind of saw protection!:)

I have Waterproof Skin

......But on a serious note it is important to be comfortable and dry when working......much better for the concentration.

I very rarely wear leggings but use 'Mountain Hardwear' Gortex which tends to be more hard wearing than the others. Also buy a short CLIMBING jacket which has zipped vents under the arm pits. The one I have now even has a telephone/radio pocket on the arm.

I don't like fleeces under jackets but prefer layers so that you can regualte your temperature.

Bought my jacket at Ellis Brigham in Fort William.

I was in arco the other day, they have Hi-viz goretex clothing now, designed for Road Gans it looked very good. they had trousers, bomber jackets and 3/4length coats all without liners. But all had the facility to zip a fleece into if you wished.

Arco are nation wide, I'm going back soon to kit myself out!

ive also got ex uk army gorex. jacket is worn most days and ive never torn it on anything and it only cost 25 quid. gorex trousers are no good for climbing as theres no give in them. plus im scared of spiking thro them on dismantles.
