Well since the environment agency use Eco plugs near water courses I am sure they would not have a problem with you using them!

It might be easier to cut it right down this time, then get the necessary permissions in place and spray off the re-growth next year. It won't take much effort knocking them off afterwards and there would be nothing big enough to need any kit other than a small hatchet.

Exclude the light equals no growth. Tarp it and lash it down.

Poplars maybe/probably, not convinced willow would as much (away from the stump itself)

Ecoplugs in the wild in willow the Monsanto says the should be closer but I stuck 20 plugs in probably half the amount needed see what happens

Got asked to quote to fell this willow today easy enough absail down fell it then winch it up with the landy and chip. She then asked me about killing the stump i said we defo cant get a grinder down there, we cant use chemicals because of the river. Only option would be winch it out with the landy but then you risk damaging the building is there a simple answer?

if the stump is exposed enough to grind i could do it for you HOWEVER i am on the Wirral and I think delivery would be bit on the steep side lol good luck would be nice to see how you deal with the stump :thumbup:

They are currently doing the trials for eco plugs to get approval for aquatic use. Not currently allowed within 1metre of watercourse but shouldn't be too long.

 

They seem a lot safer than painting it on with a approved solution.

if its in darkness it will die.

Light is the key limiting factor besides air and water.

Air and water can also be controlled but would require more effort.

 

 

Girdling is good control but most times with willow would require atleast 2 or three more attempts at desprouting.
