The bark is completely hanging off this one and it doesn't look to be doing too bad.

Drill it pour in neat round up top up with lots of table salt ,then plug the holes with old wine corks

The correct Round-up product will have approval for aquatic use - see link below. You do however technically require PA6AW and not just PA6A for use on our near water. You are also supposed to fill in the correct Environment Agency form prior to commencing.

Difficult to tell because I'm not keen to start pulling the bark off. There is some epicormic though.

I"m pretty sure Felix you will find a thin strip of usable bark somewhere, I am also pretty sure that tree will be dead in the short term.

I have not seen the site but my first thought was would you get to it on rope and harness with a freshly sharpened alpine stump grinder. Start it before you descend and then let the chips just roll down the bank. then spray what you cannot grind with roundup biactive.

The epicormic could predate the bark damage, I suppose?
