hi all,

recently i've been doing more in the way of joinery rather than woodturning and thought that i'd plaster my work on here just to get a few opinions as to what people think of it...

here is a table and benches that was commissioned by john k requesting oak garden furniture including some of the production stages.

one other project i've been working on is my college furniture course unit which is made from cedar i purchased from big j in october. cedar is a wonderful timber and greatly under used in my opinion.

 

here are a few diferent stages of its development.

the curved drawer fronts are the trickiest bit but my compass plane made short work of them.

 

i also hade to make my own plane to cut the stopped groove in the front of the drawer box to acomodate the drawer bottom.

once the top was on then i made sure the drawers opened and closed easily using that pull chamfer i put on the underside to avoid adding handles. the whole unit was sanded and then finished using three coats of danish oil...

cheers ian, i liked your sign too by the way, very impressed as i dont think i could do that without a cnc...

 

 

you should use this cedar to do your next one and use it as an outdor sign it will last for decades...

 

 

 

 

theres a couple more item to be added in the next few days.
