Thing to remember that whilst you guys are experienced in these matters your clients aren't and may only know what other people have told them (right or wrong).

Merely pointing out that the quoted cost of that type of removal would be £x with tree or £x without. Point out that the labour, machinery etc costs considerably more than the value of the wood.

I don't think sarcasm or put downs is a particularly professional response nor is it likely to gain customers. Whereas an informative response politely delivered may get a response and future business.

You could be right to a point. But IMO these people know the score and they are choosing to believe only the people that say the woods worth a lot, only because it suits them to. Suppose they are like us all, bit of chancres.

+1. Sorry but you have no idea of the person or what they are like. They could be anyone. Ok so there email is a little it annoying, but have to take it at face value and reply in a professional manor.

Then just forget all about it, or don't reply at all.

My response would be professional, had one customer before asking why his chain (blade he called it) wasn't cutting. He brought it to me and he chain was on backwards. My response was to not just stand there and laugh but fix it for him, didn't charge him, laughed my backside off on the way home in car.

He has currently always come back for his tools to be fixed since....

Exactly. And i am sure because of it he will trust you for work with more reward and probably mention you to other people. Often if you get someone when they have little experience you will keep them as clients for many years if you treat them with respect.

Could be close I'l have a go.

If I use my birds reliant rialto (cheap on fuel) I should be able to make it worth while :D

I would have a look and explain why it would cost money, unless it was one of those trees that splits it self into logs and walks its way in to the back of my truck!
