Hi lads ive been quiet for a while but a bit of a drama today forces me to ask the question...I was grinding in a tight spot, very stoney and on a ledge so my guards were slightly 'precariously placed' lets say. All was going well, but one gust of wind later and they were wrapped around the grinder head. I admit fault the guards were placed in a stupid place but it just got me thinking has anyone discovered a better alternative than the metal framed mesh sections that cost silly money? Something perhaps a little cheaper, stronger and solid in the wind?

any suggestions welcomed:biggrin:!

preferably not plywood!:001_tongue:

I have a couple of those beach wind breaks. The stripey ones with about 4 stakes, they work great so long as you can knock them in the ground.

We use scaffolding mesh (the blue or green nylon stuff) really cheap and you get loads of it! Use some road pins or tie it to trees/ fences gutters etc very versatile!!!

Ive been using wind breaks for ages - dirt cheap and roll out as much as you need.

In the past Ive used pairs of ply sheets hinged together.

Scaffold mesh sounds good

Saw someone else using 8x4 sections of 2" foam that I think is sometimes used as packing, looks ideal to me just not sure where to get it

I just line up a few school leavers who are keen to get into arb.

Cheap and easily replaceable.

Best solution ever!

You could apply the same system to other jobs:

Why buy expensive track mats for a Boxer.

Lawn protection when dropping logs etc.
