Thinking about a Pantin, I climb on a zig zag.....but which make is best,

Petzl, Kong....which is easiest on your rope life.

last but not least which side would I need left or right as I am right handed.

I use a zigzag and a right foot pantin and am right handed works great. Petzl pantin for me and is easy on the rope.

New question for those that have been using the CT foot ascender:

 

Is the lock feature on the CT an advantage so that your rope doesn't pop out or is it a hindrance getting the rope in and out all the time.

 

I guess it's pros and cons to both but just wondered if there is a preference.
