pantin

I am new to this forum but when it comes to climbing I don't mix matters...kickout on a pantin is all about form....point toes down and keep body upright...best to practice this without a frog walker at first....when started wrenching 3.5 years ago and left DdRT way behind, it's what I perfected first, then added the handled ascender and footloop....that is long history I am all about the HAAS...my chest harnesses keep one perfectly upright for efficiency and ergonomics...no bullshit...Benn Draper, Adam Bourne, Ben Minty, and about a 150 production climbers worldwide know this is the bomb....

The Pantin works fine but the CT is better and has more range. Maintaining good form is easy in open air ascents but when it comes time to cross limbs and the tail of your rope is no longer in line with your ascent the CT could care less. Chances are, if you fined releasing the super smooth lock on the CT challenging or annoying you didn't give yourself enough time to get used to it.

Dave, I am hearing ya...did not give CT a lot of time as it was an ascender on my distels and I knew I would like the Kiwi style one better which I do....horses for courses...I move through branches with no probs on a pantin...we got some tangled messes in the tropics

I'm not knocking the Pantin, mine has given me about 8 years of service, and I rate it as one of THE best investments I ever made.

Kicking out was never a real problem, but was happening more and more.

The spring is as slack as Kim Kardashians sphincter, as I climbed more SRWP with funky rope angles as Doc says it became annoying.

The CT with lock was an obvious choice for me.

Swingdude we'll have a climb one day when you're over, I'm sure my technique needs improvement anyway, I've never been the smoothest climber!

Haha, I can't possibly divulge my sources on Steves site, I'd hate to see the Feds close down Arbtalk!

Paul, I've seen Adams chest rig, it looks wicked.

I use a crossed over sling and mini crab, which is ok but not always that comfy.

Tons better than LOTS though, it was only a matter of time before I strangled myself with that.

I've heard that Adam doesn't use his for work, only when he's naked and oiled up.

Alone.
