I believe it's to help keep the cam under pressure and therefore stop it from inverting. Could be wrong though.

However I do know that without it the grab would fail its LOLER, be it pre-climb, weekly or 6 month inspection.

 

Sould be able to pick one up from gustharts for £3.50. :biggrin:

I believe that it is to stop the cam wabbling around when not being used but it the friction to keep it in the same place when under weight is caused by having your weight on the cut away strop. I'm not sure how not having one would affect LOLER...

Sounds about right!

Why? Because I changed my 13mm/3m wire core to a 11mm/4m and when no tension on the line would fall to to the end,so if you lean back on the wirecore you fall 4m !!

Just bought a new 13mm/3m from the arbshow, does slip a little when no tension on but not as much as the 11mm/4m

So a new wire is in order
