because my family wouldn't go near a mog despite how much i blagged them growing up and they live in a part of the country where you will see more timber wagons than bus's so never needed to run their own vehicle when they could just pick the phone up. Anyway i said i've never known anyone run a tractor on a o license with a class 1 not a truck. So wind your neck in because your just posting for a reaction now.

Plenty of ag contractors up and down the A1 doing just that all the time

Ok thats fine but i said i 've never known it not that it dosn't happen and i was refering to forestry/arb contractors not ag contractors and i'm also on the other side of the country from the a1. So what constructive reply are you gonna come back with now??

The thing I would take away from that is that they didn't want to go down that route, the authorities made them do it, they are bona fide ag contractors moving farm stuff from field to farm and they can't use the exemption.

As an industry arboriculture has nothing to do with agriculture we are a service industry, if arb can use the agriculture exemption where will it stop, the milk tanker, the grain delivery, stobarts delivering frozen carrots to tesco? They all have a tenuous claim at best but thier claim is still better than anything we can come up with.

The correct channels are too contact the dvla and vosa and explain honestly what the vehicles is and its future use and say simply is this ok and can I have that in writing, they say yes BUT it must run on white and must not be used for things like helping some1 move house (ther example not mine) I carnt quote psalm and verse off the bible on this as dont know which page its on.

This is why I dont discuss my sons serious medical condition on open forums as some1 will read something on the internet, interpret it there way and tell me something different too the people who's job it is too deal with these things.

Im not saying im right or your wrong or vise versa just that this is how it is and it alowes me too get on with my work with the minimum fuss and maximum efficiency within a budget I can afford and frankly sod those who dont like it .

HI JOHN i think there great trucks for the money JOHN:thumbup1: what others are there around at this money say £10/15k not many or none around thanks jon

We run a U1250 AG spec rear lift arms with chipper. It's AG tax (free), no MOT, but we do run it on white as customs and excise spot checked us (with white in the tank) and I asked them, they said absolutely no to red diesel. Never had any issues with it. Have it checked over and it gets a certificate of road worthiness just for piece of mind and no doubt good ammo if the worst we're to happen and the accident investigators tried to claim otherwise.

Same here. U1250ag. Reg as AG vehicle. We do 6 weekly checks and run it on white. Winch on front pto chipper on rear. Mainly domestic arb but some roadside trees and hedges.

Very grey area. We are considering re-registering it as "road" because we don't want to fall foul of VOSA etc...

We have an LDV with TW150 as separate/combined team . The mog set up is far more productive.

Think threads on this subject will always run and run and run.........

I can understand people get narked when they invest in their businesses and play by the rules then have to compete with others who undercut by taking shortcuts.
