Hi everyone,

I'm still quite new to climbing and want to try something other than climbing on a standard prusik. I was looking at a hitch climber set up and would like to try it.

Is it safe and easy to use?

Thanks in advance :001_smile:

Hi bud

It's perfectly safe add long add your knots are right in your friction hitch. Have a look on the knot guide on the forum. It'll take a bit of getting used to. Hauling and then pulling slack through is very different to prussiking, but once you get the hang of it, you'll never go back, moving around the canopy odds so much easier.

Of course its safe, but its up to you what hitch you tie, and some are more reliable than others. Some need to be set nearly everytime you put weight in them which can be a bit unnerving.

Just try adding a basic pulley to your prussik to start with and move on from there.

Perfectly safe and very easy and smooth, I too haven't been climbing long but soon moved onto the hc with vt and have never looked back. The only thing I will say is that the vt can be a little tempremental but once you get used to it it's like second nature, there are other knots that can be used but I find this one the best I've tried

Try the Knut knot with a hitch climber. You will get use to it pretty fast. Oh and a pair of nice grippy gloves like to towa active from fr Jones.

That's good advice for someone starting out, I use the knut alot especially on new cord.

Regards,

Tony
