Laylandi Tree Sap...Stained Indian slate, Help advice needed please

Hi all,

I left 20-30 Laylandi tree logs for a friends dad on his Indian slate in his rear garden. Now I'll always put this on a sheet or on the lawn.

From the title it's stained his Indian sandstone slate, he has tried most things to remove the sticky sap and stain.

Any advice would be very welcome indeed.

I'm going to contact HG international on Monday however any help or tips would be great.

Kind regards

Andrew

You need brick acid, proper brick acid, not the crap they sell in DIY stores. It's restricted sale these days like creosote so have to blag ya builders merchant as I believe most of there policies are account sales only.

Failing this there is one other option. Obviously if laid in sand(uncommon for slate) turn over, dress edge if needed, and relay and point. If not its possible with Indian slate to remove the top layer with an old trowel and hammer. I had to do this once when I was rather careless with a disc cutter. You have to be super careful. If you get it wrong its terminal

Had a similar problem with staining from brash on a render wall from a groundie being careless. Managed to shift it with a paste of biological washing powder applied and kept moist to allow it to work, followed by a good scrubbing. This was only from copper plum leaves might it could be worth a try. Good luck with it! :001_smile:
