Rethink required, billet bundles are too heavy

Like that idea RJ. Would love a rotor system on my pallet toes.

John Logan - Didn't realise you were pushing out such volumes. Your obviously in the game for the long haul then. billets are more fun then a processor, but im speaking from a domestic prospective, I do about 20 tons a year.

Ah 20tonnes is a lot more fun. Yes, raising a family and making living in forestry contracting and selling firewood. Quite obviously, when I think about it, I must be a bit mad, a loony. I'll keep at it for as long as I can. Definitely want to fettle the process to make it less hard work on the ole body though. Cheers, John.

Hi there renew'john, sounds good, nice and simple. What sort of money would those IBC crates cost then, if wanting to buy 700 to 1000 say? Cheers, John.

Plenty on the bay usually approx 15-20 each. Personally I would go for the steel bases rather than the wooden pallet bases.

Ashes:blushing::blushing::blushing:

You are absolutly correct:thumbup:

But I am the animal I am, and have learned to live with myself and my undoubted shortcomings:lol::lol:

Taken me a good 35 of my 55 years to appreciate this btw:001_tt2:.

Cheers

Marcus

But seriously, bytimes when my back is creaking bad and I cannot sensibally physically work, thinking is the only thing I can do.

PS

Rowan, had that possibility sussed, an awful lot of "tooing-an-froing" for 5m lengths.

Now for full tree lengths, as in "up the Moss" , perhaps.

Is this a suitably complicated project for you Difflock?

I have read most of the posts but dont always understand peoples individual location problems. When I did logs a couple of years ago I worked out the following.

1. I need to do 1000 tonnes to earn a living not 300 and make sure I can sell them in a mild winter.

2. I need a 2-3 tonne telehandler with quick release log grab and a pallet rotator.

3. buy a new very large binderberg processor that takes large cord or if your wood is twisty buy a Dallen

4.buy a bandsaw and make your own 3cu metre crates that can be rotated and dry logs in them you will need to make 500

5. Dont bother if everyone is fighting their logs out in your area at £60 a cu metre.
