Hi everyone I currently own a tw 18/100g es. It been running really well until I decided to get it serviced. Spend £240 on the service then I use it for about three minutes on Saturday. It just cut out on it self. Turn the key it's turning over but not firing up:confused1:. Any ideas on why. I checked the fuel, spark plugs and other parts.

Do I have to pay for the problem to be fix by the service people who serviced it or should they do it for free as it was running sweet until they had they hands on it. I just wondered on where I stand on this or if any has experience this situation before.

Sounds like a fuel issue. Or the wrong plugs.

Give them a call, and just say its stopped running and won't fire up. They should at least have a look at it for you to see what the problem is. May be something simple like fuel not getting through after they have changed the filters. Or incorrect plugs.

You would best ask the people who serviced it, but there is not much to these machines, so not much to go wrong.

I would check engine oil level, then look at all the ignition system connectors, & check for spark. All being well here look to fuel delivery, you could check this by spilling a half egg cup full of petrol onto the air filter, then try & start it, if it fires up for a bit you got a fuel delivery issue.

Cant answer as to whether its the service people who are responsible for costs without knowing what the issue is, ( did they cause it), but you might have fun getting them to admit responsibility.:001_smile:

"Where do I stand?"

Why is the 1st thing that is asked is "who do I blame?".

My reaction would be to look for a loose wire, or fuel flow, then ring and ask, "scuse, my chipper has stopped all of a sudden, it has spark and fuel, may I bring it back.?"

You are more likely to get a favourable rseponse using that method than foot stamping and finger poking!

probably because hes shelled out for a service and doesnt want to keep throwing money at it but things break down even after they have been serviced also many people arent that mechanically minded and dont like getting billed for something that there dealer has screwed up on

As someone who services generators daily I put myself in the other persons shoes. How would I like to be approached if I had carried out the service. The last thing on my mind would be charging for further work more getting the customer up and running. When you service a machine often you can disturb something or new parts can fail shortly after. Annoying but hardly the end of the world. If I have too much work the first customers to go are bad payers the second ones to go are the chippy ones. Talk to them nicely if that fails you always have the dummy spitting option to fall back on.
