Cleaning a loggers tape

What's the best way to clean sap from a loggers tape, I've been thinning Sitka spruce and cutting to set lengths and its covered it crap.

Fuel from the combi on a rag.

Undo the tension on the spring and coil the tape into a bucket of hot water and washing powder and leave to soak for a few hours,pull the tape out of the bucket and wipe it with a cloth as you do.roberts your fathers brother as they say:001_cool:

You're probably right, its funny how I assume that fuel is the most expensive thing in the world. I'd be quite likely to spill fuel everywhere costing myself a small fortune, whereas WD is only a quick squirt.

Yes,I did that but couldn't get the blinkin thing back wound up again.Spent 1 evening with it on my lap but wouldn't go back from together for all the tea in china.

cant even read mine,taped with different colours at 4.9,6.2, and 8.1 for easyness
