What cut to use.

I've a pine tree to fell tomorrow in a woodland and the objective is to not damage anything around it. My problem is its head leaning heavily enough and if felled from the ground it will do damage. So I was going to spike up the straight part of the stem and drop it off. It's not wide enough for a bore cut so I'm wondering what cut to use to avoid it splitting/barber chairing. ( I done the best I could with the photos.) ImageUploadedByArbtalk1368560886.330535.jpg.f79bcadfd1fbe0ccae8132e6f195a074.jpg

As Peter said, thats not big enough to be a concern if your saws sharp enough. I'd just put in a deeper gob.

And relating that back to le sang post, if you are not experienced enough to work out just how deep a gob you can put in/ get away with before it closes up on you, then maybe it is not a job for you yet.

But deeper gob sounds good and make sure you have them ropes sinched up nice and tight, and flick the off switch as soon as it goes as you drop the saw and hang on for dear life as your groundy gets covered in your proverbial exiting your rear out of your type Cs. Lol.

It should be fine though, just go with it. good luck.. ''corr blimey someones gona have fun tomorrow!!!!!''

Of course im just winding you up, enjoy and keep safe

P.S. Put a couple of good side cuts in too, reduce the hinge holding capacity.
