Undoubtedly the most successful and greatest football manager ... can anyone really argue that he isn't ? But in my opinion ... at times a disgrace to the title "Sir" ... Always ungracious in defeat with a list of other people to blame when his team were beaten. How many other sporting Knights of the realm would openly blame their sports officials for their failure ?

My first footballing hero as a nipper was Bobby Charlton... and I was captivated by a team that contained George Best, Dennis Law Brian Kidd etc until my Dad convinced me I should support my local team. I am a football lover and I am no Manchester United hater but who takes over ... I couldn't care less !!

When the game sees its smaller clubs going out of business because they are in debt to the same amount that Frank Lampard earns in a week then its very difficult to defend the game. Football constantly gives the people that hate it a good reason to hate it !

Poorly run clubs will always go out of business. Football is a business like tree surgery, get it wrong it goes Pete Tong.

I probably should have separated my last two sentences....

Is football a business like tree surgery ?I agree a poorly run anything deserves to go out of business but with the amount of emotional money chucked about in the supply of and the demand for football... the parameters seem to have become unjustifiable.

Anyway ... are we sure that Fergie doesn't just fancy the Wolves job ??

Why do you think the Same clubs are at the top year in year out, is it that they can afford the best players. And the less wealthy clubs cant afford to hang onto there's, i think there is more skill involved trying to stay in the premier. Man u can spend 100s of millions on players, there bound to have one of the best teams.

I dont think he is the best manager ever. I think he will go down in history as one of the best premier league bosses, but thats it. He never managed abroad and he never won the world cup. To be truely great i believe you need to be great at both national and world levels. If that makes sense.

To be honest I know where you're coming from, but club football is played at a higher level than international football.

To be a successful manager of one of the biggest (if not the biggest!) clubs in the world for 26 years. 13 titles 2 CLs etc etc. For me there is no question.

IMO, this the truest statement in this whole thread, football is a business, plan and simple, its all about money.

I fully understand why people in the past supported their local club, with local lads playing, but today thats all gone, its just which team can afford the best players from any where in the world.

I really don't get how people get so worked up and passionate about it, but hey its a free world :001_smile:
