I don't get the need for this, I like my zz, I've simply used one of those rubber gizmos to prevent cross loading and backed it up with a cut away.

That's not enough skyhuck! Don't climb on it like that. Either modify (you didn't hear that from me) or use an extra small sling between the two biners. There is really something serious wrong with the alloy and just a couple of big shot rubbers are not enough to keep you safe!

Hey Treespotter you have completely defeated the point of the HC if you have it in that position. when rope runs over branch and then into top of carabineer. yeah i think HC version is better but does need TESTING ay, balance point looks weird.

The first HitchZag as you call it, looked like the strongest and balanced on the HC. but other version looks abit more streamlined.

You are right on that one. I stumbled over that one more than once today. But for now the convenience of having the working side closest by was way more appealing. Pulling up was all done in line with the setup. The pulling through of the tail was grabbing in a unusual place.

And be honest. Don't you pull your line over a branch a bit most of the time to 'step over the edge'?

haha nar i setup a simialar thing on single system year or two ago. nar i dont 'step over the edge' with my rope haha. i just let the HC does its job and it does so well, just lean into your rope and it will flow smoothly unless over heaps branches you know the drill.

enjoy climbing and tinkering, see you at LB again next year. Matt
