Yes Joe, I will have to check that out and make sure they don't, another bonus of the maillons is that any undoing is a lot more obvious than the rings, I hated when I can't see the joins!

They are loctited in. So wont come loose. If they do, the black rings will spin and rattle in the space around the screw.

I'd just like to add that I came here asking for advice on if something was safe, not if it was a good idea or if you want to use it.

I hate forums!!!

Oh relax and put the dummy back in. Just a bit of friendly banter.

As for safe well no ones going to say yes to that. As if you fell it would be a "well some guys on a forum said it would be ok"

IMO leave the harness as it is and modify add ons to fit it better. If you have no trust in the rings then add something along with the rings as a backup. Or have a metal cable made up that connects everything. I have and I now trust it more than I did when I first used it.

I didn't think anyone would guarantee my safety, just wondering if there was an obvious reason not to.

And to all the peeps that wouldn't dream of second guessing a manufacturers product and look to improve if they felt it ness astray I have one word ZIGZAG!

If you truly think you can better the manufacturers design, go for it.

It seems like you've made up your mind. The only problems mentioned have been cross loading and the screw gate coming undone. I'm sure you'll be able to find a way around this, and once you have, e-mail Petzl, they might love it and make it a standard, I'm sure they have nothing else going on...
