200 and 300 tdi are nice simple push rod engines. Remember to fit a new timing belt but the head bolts will go again, no need to replace those.

Keep the push rods in order but its not the end of the world of you mix them up.

Getting the head gas tested and skimmed is always a good move.

Remember to take the timing locks out before you start the engine.

The 300tdi has little caps on top of the valves which fall off when you remove the rocker shaft, make sure you block th holes up with rag before you remove it or they disappear down inside the engine. Not sure if 200 is the same but better to be safe.

Getting the head skimmed is a must !! They are real easy to do nothing tricky at all. Make sure you get a good quality gasket "elring" are on of the prefered makes. No need to go any where near the timing belt as it doesnt gonearthe cylinder head.

Thanks mate, I think for the sake of 50 quid I will get the head skimmed while the heads off, makes sense really. Can you leave enough room if you leave the turbo attached to the manifold ?
