Ive heard a few dodgy things about the 461 but wondered what people reckon on here.

Not sure what you've heard but I've been having no issues .. .. wrote this a few weeks back and had one since feb.

I've had a 461 for a few weeks now and been using it on felling and processing some biggish sycamores . . . in short Stihl have won through with this saw and if you like the 460 then you won't be disappointed.

it's got good balance, rapid throttle uptake, not lacking in torque and as the anti vibes are the rubber type it doesn't feel like a 441.

The manual states you can run 16, 18, 20, 25, 28 & 30" bars although I've only been running 20".

The feel, weight and look of the saw is very similar to the 460 and it obviously shares some of the same parts.

I'm really glad Stihl have released a new saw which immediately feel and runs right, straight out of the box . . .just like the old days.

To cap it all off the exhaust is the same so you can retrofit a dual port front cover from a 460.

The only thing I'd add to this, now it's properly run in, is my god it's a torque monster:biggrin:

I have had a 461 for a few weeks now and it is an amazing saw, run it on a 20 inch bar most the time but have tried on a 30 and it managed well, have also tried it with a 15 inch bar:thumbup: it is a quality saw:thumbup1:
