Alun, what was your method for getting the first cut flat on such a bendy log?

Muttley - my Alaskan mill has a ~40" cut, the tree was ~24", so with the ladder screwed down on to the log in a position that allowed the mill to slide across to both egdes I milled the first cut. So, sometimes the mill would be hard up against the ladder but cutting the log at the other egde of the mill, and vice verse. This is harder to explain well than to do! Hope answer is clear.

storm damaged tree mate in them winds 2-3 weeks ago the wind put the tree on the deck and smashed 3-4 fences

having said that for the size of the tree there was not as much damage as I would have though think the houses round the tree got off light

Just joking bud, but yes the houses around it where very lucky.
