i'm toying with the idea of selling my ldv and going the trailer route. I'd like to try out an Atlas trailer(amongst other reasons to support one of my sponsors) and am interested if anyone has any experience with them?

I have an LDV and a trailer:001_smile:

The only downside to the trailer is the fact that you cant tow a chipper as well, on the plus side with a 4x4 you can get into places that the ldv can't.

I'm assuming you don't have a chipper Steve as I can't remember you mentioning one in which case why not. Mine is a bateson and was made in 1994, I dread to think how many miles its done but its still going strong. So long as the atlas ones have decent axles there's not much else to go wrong.

The axles on mine are avonride and have been ok.

The real question is what are you going to pull it with?

tom, i do have a chipper but as im not really interested in doing my own work im not that worried about losing the ldv/chipper type combo. im happy to just take on jobs where chips can stay on site really. the only waste im interested in carting is wood.

I have an Indespension 8x5 electric tipper and it's brilliant. Had an Ifor before but it was very bouncy unladen. Got to have electric tip because hand pumping is unbearable. 8x5 is obviously shorter than the 10x5 Atlas you're looking at but then it makes it more obedient to tow and can get into smaller places, weighs less when moving by hand etc. I paid £3k for mine brand new last Sept inc ladder rack - Indespension are doing bonkers discounts at the mo. Comes with excellent steel ramps and all the trimmings. Only gripe is GW of 2600kg whereas 10x5 is 3500kg I think. Greedy boarded up it works lovely. I have a Jo Beau M500 which I can almost leave at the back on small jobs, otherwise the tracked jensen fits in spot on.:001_smile:

I would recommend an ifor as you can sell it every couple of years and get most of the purchase price back just check E-Bay.

When I was looking to buy another one there was only £150.00 between new and s/h ifor prices.

we use 12x6 ifor tippers great for small jobs you can still manage the 530t on the back after the chips then you can use it for deliverin big firewood loads.
