Is there a reason?

A lot of these "rules" are just plucked out of the air.

Why 22kN?

Which 8 and 6mm cords are 22kN btw?

Armour Pruss 8mm 2800kg

New England HRC 8mm 2900kg

Yale Beeline 8mm 3600kg

Samson Ice tail 8mm 3500kg

Samson Tenex 8mm 2400kg

Ocean Poly 8mm 22kn

Ocean Vectran 6mm 22kn

SIRUS 2300kg

all this info found on Treestuff.com i am sure there are many more

i also use 10mm as my access line either in double form or single depending on if i am footlocking or frog walker.

But i was thinking as a big landyard when switch into your main ring provides a normal working system i.e CE landyard but that is 11mm. albeit not ideal for the hands but as not main line would be sufficient enough.

Anyways i know it safe and more than strong enough. Hmmm yeah 22kn ascenders.....its a good guide be it all it is.

That's interesting, the last time I was looking (about 3 years ago) the only one readily available was liros herkules, and certainly no 6 mm cords.

Personally don't think I'd feel comfortable on less than 10mm for access line, might go less on a lanyard, but less than 11 as a climbing line is very uncomfortable.

Interesting

Some are not ce though and some not ideally suited to friction cord.

Be carefully guys
