Choose of fence post - advice please.

6 years ago had a fence installed for me, the contractor used 4x4 wooden posts (treated he said). I didn't watch him do it but it was sturdy. Anyway, one of the posts has rotten at soil level and the whole section had to be propped up to stop the inevitable.

 

My question guys, given that all the posts are likely to be the same, or just lagging a little, and will rot in time, do I get them replaced with concrete posts.

 

As it is adjacent to a brick wall about 3' -6" tall I don't want those concrete in fill sections at the base, I'd like to see the wall and have the panels starting just below the top of the wall, if that makes sense.

Recycled plastic posts??? Lasts as long as ugly concrete posts looks like timber. No treating reqd or going rotten.

Bit pricey though

Thanks guys, recycled plastic fence posts 100 x 100 x 3600 are £32 each but should last. Do you concrete in as for a concrete post, I guess you do.

I'm not from Yorkshire so i can't be 100% accurate on translation but i think it says dig a hole, put the post in, then all the dirt you've dug out back in and it won't go anywhere!

 

Doesn't always work when i've tried it though. Bang some postmix mix in!

ive allway just bolted cocrete spurs onto wooden posts, looks like wood from the front but the treated posts are left 1inch above ground level and will never rot...
