I fogot to menton, we run a "Le Mans" start so have to run 300 yards with the saw before doing the cut......not a problem is it:001_tt2::lol:

Not a problem for me mate. You havnt seen the monster of a man I am yet. A four pot engine is nothing for me to lift. :001_tt2::001_tt2:

Thanks mick. That would be nice of you.

I did ask the lifeboat today if they had any engines knocking about but sadly not.

And they didn't reply to my comment over using one of the MTU 1000hp engines from the boat either. Well they do have two of them so I'm sure they can manage with just one for a little while

Not sure how I would get on with spuds Le Mans start tho.

Ok. Not of a letdown to be honest today.

Got an email back from a supplier today. Looks like I will have to acquire the bar else where, tried on company and they said that Oregon had advised them that they couldn't sell the bar to me as it would be too dangerous for the average chainsaw user....duh.

So got to now try and source a bar from ebay...... Go figure.

Feel free to jump in.

I'm looking at building a v6 chainsaw.

So first I'm looking for an engine. Obviously petrol as the weight of a diesel will be too much to handle. Any ideas on a small one.

Second I'm looking for a bar. Now I've seen the American ones are huge that they use so I'm going on the fact they make there's. this route I will probably have to take so need a manufacturer to make one.

Second is actually setting it up. I know I will need stop buttons and safety switches etc. these I can add as and when but attaching the bar and chain to engine could be very difficult. Will need to make up a sprocket that can attach to the engine. Not sure to go with some sort of clutch system or just go direct.

Thoughts and ideas ar more than welcome.

Will keep posted as to how I come along with it.

Have you looked for a Triumph V6 from one of their bikes? A friend of mine managed to source one for his bike project. It should be light enough and have masses of torque.
