Ms260 chain brake won't stay fixed!

My little 260 destroyed a brake band the other week. Fixed it and it was ok. But now the spring that is in the mechanism won't stay connected to its little post at the back of the unit. It's 3 times now its come off and it's getting annoying. It seems it might be bent but I straightened it and it came off again.

Any ideas for this? It's a great little saw but I'm reluctant to use it without a chain brake!

The spring is suppose to be bent inwards slighty, on the longer end.

Also has the lever th spring connects to ok and does it have the E clip on it. And is it on the post all the way in so the clip sits in the groove on the post?

The bend is there as expected. It's where it sits on the post it keeps coming off. I don't know if its sitting out of line on the post or has bent slightly when I put it on,but it appears to sit on the groove in the post ok.

Ill have a bit more of a fettle and try a new spring. The rest of the mechanism is fine. I'm on the 3rd brake band with this saw in 5 years.

Might be time for a new one soon if it carries on. Stihl or husky?
