Arbtalkers stop picking

True but trying to be an Alfa male on an Internet forum is only going to make you look like one thing. I think a lot of threads could be a lot less angry if people used terms like 'in my opinion'.

This is, in my opinion, one of the best forums I have ever used. You get the odd spanner in all walks of life, that's just the way it is but they usually go away after a while.

Mark you never fail to make me laugh! Quality

I enjoy banter but I agree with the original post in the sense that you can find yourself checking and rechecking what your typing for fear of getting shot down. I don't enjoy that feeling, and it puts me off posting and starting threads at times.

Make arbtalk a friendly place, where information, ideas, knowledge and experience is shared, along with fair, informed, input and constructive criticism.

Ive noticed that some posts are misinturpretted by others, its not what you say but how you say it.For example i could reply to a post and call them an idiot, but if i put a:laugh1: after idiot then its a completly different meaning,if you see what i mean

I've done it myself i'll be honest!! Read something too quickly and posted a reply even quicker!! Then gone back when someone has pulled me and realized i was wronge!!! It happens and the difference is being able to hold your hand up and not start getting all keyboard terrorist. I think arbtalk is an invaluable source of information gained from other people in the industry that have experience on hand. I know there are a good circle of people on here that i can have banter with and i find i have more good times on here than bad.

Can't really post anything that hasn't already.

Great forum, the information that is available on here is huge, but best of all its mostly from people's own experience not what they have been taught but what they have learnt. I've learnt way too much about two stroke engines that only a small amount of it was taught during my college days.

You can't teach experience. I've probably upset a few in my posts and I've had the odd argument before. I would rather people send me a pm or just give me a nudge if I do, I feel its easier to deal with that way than to misinterpret a post.

Sometimes posts are wrong, the most important thing to do is to write another post but try and add some facts with it, evidence is better than just words.

This forum will always be good, some threads just make me smile when I read them as they can be funny and add humour. And after a day from hell just make the evening feel better and forget about the troubles of the day.

There is a LOT more on this forum than just trees but this makes it more worth while IMO.

Good post Jaime.

There is a lot of misinterpretation, jumping to conclusions and total sense of humour failure about, but there are some awfully dumb posts as well.

I love swapping tips and advice, but I think now if I can only be negative on a thread I better move on without comment.

'Where can I buy a climbing rope?'

'I've just turned 86, have I left it too late to become a contract climber?'

'I've got nearly all my pubes now, and would like advice on which saw/truck/chipper/boots/harness to buy and start my own company.'

Debate is great, slanging matches are not.

Alcohol-fuelled ranting also plays a part, and I used to be a serial offender.

We're all in it together fellas, let's have some more positive vibes (man!).

Peace.

Well you have just won the award for the funniest reply i have ever read on this site :lol::lol: Purely for the pubes sentence!

Well done Jamie for posting this.

There are one or two serial offenders who delight in putting others down by picking fault with everything.

The problem is that when I feel 'attacked', I tend to fight back, making me no better than them.

We all need a little reminder from time to time, so maybe this thread will encourage us to treat others with just a little more respect.
