Husqvarna R53SV, any opinions?

I've got the smaller r145 sv and its not been a great mower in the time i've owned it.

 

My allen hover is a much better machine, in fact the husky is a bit of a pain so I don't use it much.

Bit late I’m sure, just done some repairs to a 2009 I think R53SV the body had rotted badly on both sides sea air and wet grass left to fester, but approx £30 of materials and some time, now has it back to mowing and collecting Like a new machine. wire brush on drill, back to clean metal, then fibre glassed the holes which were much larger and more plentiful than I thought ? Make sure to support the glass as it sets then a tin of P40.  Left to harden, a few rubs down and then a rattle can of grey primer, more sanding and smoothing for a better finish but hopefully another few seasons of work will be had, if your R53SV is starting to rust in the deck but frame is sound don’t dither, get on and fix it up or sell it me cheap ? great mower

All caused by Lazy operators/piss poor care! if cleaned instead of just dumped in shed wouldn't be like that as grass left damp goes like an acid. Clean/scrape off and douse in ACF50 reg no rust then.

Alloy decks left go brittle!

I wasn't referring to yours in particular but most seen it so much they use then just shove out of way then bleat when machines fooooked!

Friend has one Grass Monkey mowing when ever IQ measured with it is unmeasurable!

Ive had Blade off and sharpened cleaned underneath and old one they had sharpened blade like a knife! plus back of it.

Trying to explain logic to them was akin to head/wall logic! in the end said get new blade.

(Needs back end twisted up and edge blunt/flat to mulch/throw out of machine creates a vortex effect or like was blocks mower up if damp)

Well in a moment for madness I bought another one unseen ??? photos were somewhat misleading as to the state of the machine so a little winter evening project I can spend a little more time on this one as I don’t have to get it back mowing within a couple of days ?

give it a douse of brick acid(Kure rust in another world) but works out far cheaper than tubs of rust killer.

Give a good brushing with hammerite brush cleaners/thinner then coats of hammerite the cleaner is the primer for hammerite many dont use then wonder why hard to paint/peels off!

 

For inside get some 2K/2pack stonechip paint what use on sills on cars

Been looking at the rust earring compounds, just paint the brick acid on the wash off after a few hours? Wasn’t going to hammerite it but stone chip paint makes sense just bought some orange to tidy it up a bit.....

Yeah it will go black as works on rust! then rinse when ready.

Zip wheels are the daddy for cleaning the rusty crud out.

Hammerite type paints are good if used properly they cure
