Approved supplier list

The simple answer is to get rid of these grants and schemes, it props a few up nicely and everyone else struggles. It will soon end up like the subsidy dependent farming that we have become accustomed to in previous decades. Quite simply if something is not viable don't do it. But only fair if level playing field.

Is anyone else on here BSL registered?

I signed up a few months back and now have been asked for the first quarterly report. They have asked how many tonnes of firewood have been sold. But what I don't know is are they referring to selling to those claiming RHI and need bsl records or does it refer to all firewood sales including for example someone with a open fireplace?

Clarification from someone in the know would be a hand cheers.

I have registered as a self supplier (because we are using a fair amount of our own wood), which I think lets me off the reporting bit, but I will need a producer registration if I want to chip all the arb arisings. I havent had the energy to tackle that online form filling nightmare yet.

Does anyone else find the terminology a bit vague? Has the website improved since it was launched?

Very vague. I don't know why they would need to know about all the existing customers who don't require firewood from someone on the BSL List. I haven't supplied anyone with firewood who's claiming RHI and don't expect to supply many as I don't supply woodchip or pellets.

Will just put 0 tonnes in the quarterly Biomass Suppliers List submission.

Yes, attended a meeting recently and one of the topics discussed was the new accreditation scheme now HETAS is no more. Apparently any one installing a biomass system that qualifies for RHI will only be able to buy their fuel from a supplier on the approved supplier list to guarantee their RHI payments. It is designed to prove sustainability of the wood used as fuel we were told.

That has been on the cards for some years,, please explain a bit more about the demise of the Hetas approval scheme, this was being run by Woodsure. I am a Hetas approved retailer and was not aware of any changes in their firewood approvals. Mind you it was in my opinion a lot of tosh, calling 25% MC acceptable is frankly a pretty poor standard.

HI Alysindon

The woodsure quality assurance does NOT entitle you to be an RHI approved supplier . We were woodsure accredited for supplying logs when we became accredited two years ago it was on the understanding that this would help us be on are way to become RHI accredited as woodsure were in corespondance with the government regarding the implamentation of the new rhi scheme but this was NOT to be the case .hope this helps.
