It depends on the company you work for. Some of the larger companies do internal training courses which are compliant to renewable UK or global wind.

 

my most recent training was all done through a company called heightec.

 

 

Training is just on how to use safety kit really. As your not allowed to train above 20m!

 

Turbines I work on range from 75m to 125m

Loads of people send me CVs and are so keen to climb up turbines. The reality is climbing is not our jobs...were electrical, mechanical and hydraulic engineers all rolled into one lean mean machine.

 

11minutes to climb ladder. 3 minutes in lift!

Just as eco friendly as chopping down trees.!

 

I think they base it over the life span of the machine and the carbon foot print. Revenue in a 24hr period is around £7k per machine when windy. Most farms now are paid for in 5-7 years. Pays my mortgage !
