Once its broken in, its a great bit of kit. Have both 260/261 and no major issues, and would say its the most used saw out of the lot. There a nice all round saw, next to the chipper,felling, logging up, delimbing and to climb with.

My 261 has been fine except for the clutch drum bearing failing , but been good since .

K .

 

I heard through the grapevine that a load had to he sent back to stihl due to a failure but never heard what it was... I guess now if the fault has been fixed there's not much to worry about??

There was teething problems but there basically done, just look after your gear and itll last. I have a 2009 260 and the only thing ive had to do is change the clutch springs so nothing big and the 261 is still running smooth. Also if there is any problems just take it back to a stihl dealer to be fixed
