Thanks for the answers guys, I can see how it works now-I think.....having watched a lot of youtube vids on SRT it looks like small advances are still made by pulling up from below the device, its ok to do this yeh?

 

Decision now is which device to go for, soo much choice, was gonna get a Unicender before but dithered, really like the look of the Hitch Hiker now.

Id start with a rope wrench as its the cheapest SRTWP system and can quickly be removed to turn the system back to DRT. I cannot say how much a hitch hiker is but im sure old mills will answer that for me. As for the uni ive been using mine for 3 days solid and with a chest harness limbwalking back is stupidly fast, Returning from a limbwalk you can either slack tend like DRT or hold tension in the line below and use your hand or LOTS to drive the system up the line.

The HH and RW are similar in price because the HH comes with biner and hitch cord. Does £10 or £30 really make that much difference for a device that will last years and suit you best. People get so hung up about saving a few quid so that they can get second best:001_rolleyes:

 

I'm not going to tell you the the HH is better because I don't know you. It's better for me and I knew that from looking at the picture of it. YOU know how you like to climb, how you like your gear to work and based on that you'll know which one will work best for you.

 

I'm sure you've been through the RW thread on here, so here are links to two good threads about the HH. There are a lot of Americans and Canadians using it so there is some great info here.

Thanks for the reply Old Mill, I have indeed read the RW thread and various threads on both the Treehouse and Treebuzz, it all makes fascinating reading for an SRT virgin like myself. I reckon I'd be pretty happy with either bit of kit but I feel drawn to the HH, can't really give a single reason but just seems to tick more boxes for me.

 

I'll probably end up with both plus there is always the Unicender lurking in the background, all this and I've just got a zigzag which I really really like esp compared to the SJ but thats a different thread:sneaky2:

The HH ticked more boxes for me but it was a clear progression from a ZK1. I can't compare to the ZK2.

It just works well for me.

What else do people use and why?

Lyon slings cause that's what I've got but I do use a revolver with them.
