Silly price HAVE A GUESS

Don't know about you out there, but this year has been a nightmare for me quoting for jobs and loosing out to stupid prices.

A week ago I looked at a Large ash 1metre + dia @ base 25m+tall with 4 Ganoderma brackets growing out from around the main fork @ 8metres, 4 large stems from that fork. Wood pecker holes all over the shop, and 9 BT cables running through the crown, over a road. On the same job a 18metre tall 15 metre wide evergreen oak to reduce by 1/3rd, with 3 bt cables running through also over a road. Both TPO trees and the ash to be stump ground and chased out.

Given the extent of the fruiting bodies, trees position and structural loss of integrity of the wood I think cherry picker time!!

Today I called the lady to express my concerns with climbing said tree and that my quote will reflect hire of picker and that it will bump up costs, she said unless I can beat her lowest quote so far not to bother.

She told me the lowest quote she'd had... to fell tree, grind and reduce 2nd tree.

Here's where the fun starts, I know you haven't seen the job, but could you say what ball-park you'd say it was worth then.......guess what the lowest quote so far is??

Answers on a self addressed envelope!!

I'll let you know the answer soon.

Some good guesses there people, don't know if to let you know now or keep this going a wee bit longer??

By way of a clue, I reckon there's 1 day on the oak and easily 2 on the ash using the picker, oh yeah and for 3 men

Your head is right, traffic control is minimum though.

I'd also like to add that this is not the first time this year that crazy prices are being thrown around. BAD for the trade!!

I'm trying hard to stick to my guns on my pricing which I'm confident is good, in terms of time allocation etc etc.

There's some busy fools out there at the moment, taking risks they shouldn't be.

My gut says this tree is not a climber!!
