Maybe the sewn loop and krab is the other option but as you've already said it was fine with a knot.

Yeah like I said I use it with a Single Fisherman's Loop and it does work fine but you do have to make sure you set it right and slightly to one side.

MOG, can you not pull a bight out just above the pulley beneath and outside the first link for hauling saws up 'a la hitch climber'...? Don't see how that's any different....?

No Worcswuss, theres lot of pressure on the rope and you cant pull a bight out with the pressure.

You can't go wrong with a big shot mate! Don't write off a zig zag until you have tried it tho if you enjoy a hc then you will enjoy a zz even more.

Lumberjake, Is that yale 13mm rope, how do you find the zigzag works with 13mm? Or any one else using one on 13mm.

Got a zigzag on order, but would like to get a bit more use out of my current 13mm rope, marlow, before getting a new rope, maybe a smaller diameter. Thanks

Yes it is 13mm Yale XTC Plus, 13mm is okay but is isn't the easiest to thread through the ZZ but once it is on there it doesn't need to be taken off so I dont have any problems with it. On the other hand, other ZZ users have said that slightly thinner rope does self tend better so when I need to change my rope I will be ging down to 12mm. You say you have Marlow rope, I have always found them to be fairly stretchy rope and apparently the ZZ works better on rope with less stretch. If you did want to change rope then I would recommend either Yale or New England. Yale Imori is a good rope and it is 12mm.
