yeah we had an angalo nubian. He was a very playful goat and very musky at times.

my dad picked him up from wales while he was picking up a car in a transit car transporter.

he said that every time he went to change gear the goat would have its nuts dangling in the way!

Anyone on here an experienced goatman or woman?

i got 11 pygmy goats.

They are funny little things. i do however have an 8 week old one that is under the weather, not sure he is going to pull through

anyone else got goats?

Sorry to read one has died.

We have never had pygmy goats but used to have some toggenbergs, saanens and an anglo nubian billy who was the most most revolting animal we have ever kept and bad tempered with it. They have a fantastic knack of getting into trouble. The list is very long but here are some high/low lights. Jumping the garden fence and impaling itself on an old Victorian railing and letting out a blood curdling noise. I rushed out and had to lift the the darn thing of a 4' high fence whilst it was writhing around in agony. Incredibly it was fine and just needed a course of antibiotics and few stitches. Total destruction of the neighbors roses and many other plants and then being really ill costing a fair bit in vets bills . The funniest goat we had was half anglo nubian half toggenberg called Chickpea (don't ask why) her ears were very expressive as she could move them anywhere from straight down to right up and anywhere in between. She was also the smartest goat we ever had and could undo many types of gate latch which as you can imagine caused many a problem on a farm. Her mother had the same skills and was once looked after buy a local zoo where she demonstrated her gate opening skills wreaking havoc and never being welcome to return. This toggenberg had large horns and we used to keep her in an electric fence until one day we went out to find her with the whole fence wrapped around her horns like candyfloss (she was unhurt). I don't have the time to be running around after goats at the moment but I would like keep some again one day.

Sadly, its all coming back to me now, i used to keep them as a boy started of with one Anglow newbean ( god knows how that should be spelt and i think that was what they were called, with drupy ears) long story short, it came into season , me and my dad took it in the back of are car !!! to visit the billy in the next village, I'd never, never seen any thing like it, billy was twice as big and must of smell us coming, as we pulled into the farm yard billy broke out and was going nuts, we let the goat out and they were straight at it, never seen anything like it, when they finished, and it didn't take long, we took her back in the car, she was a very sticky :laugh1:

Hey Jesse, isnt there another goat story your not telling us? :001_tongue:

We kept a small herd when I was young - mainly Anglo-Nubians and we sold the milk/ate the spare offspring.

We also had a big shaggy smelly thing with enormous antlers called Barbara (not sure where it came from, I think someone gave it to us) and every so often we'd get a visit from a feral billy who lived in the area...the smell was really quite something!

I am finding it hard to fit it all in at the moment.

Work 5 days a week employed and usually 2 days self employed.

Drop the work van back at the yard and feed the goats rhen I got to get back and walk two naughty dogs. And the same again in the morning.

It was an 8 week old kid that died. Can't help thinking that I might of noticed his illness if I had more time on my hands. Want to go self empoyed

I'd have goats as pets before dogs or cats etc, I spent alot of time with them I could walk them and graze them, most of the time they behaved did as I told them. But now I wouldn't have the time to give that i'd like.

My Dad used to help me make hay and grow kale and Mangold wurzels. Incidently I have found Mangold seed again at tuckers if anyone is interested.
