That's the plan, we're talking Hardscrabble Farm not Buccleugh Estates!

 

Present workhorse is a Goldoni 70hp conventional compact w/ loader (pic in profile), handy but I've had to max the tread for slopes, and no reverse drive: I like to be able to get out of trouble as fast as I got into it (viz Donald Sutherland's Sherman) and spending the day mulching with my head turned 180* does not appeal...

i was looking into a bobcat and flail.

 

quite expensive so i bought a brushcutter. at least when its not working the machine has paid for itself with in the first week!

 

i have had quite a few scrub bashing jobs and i love it!! all over it like a sanitary towel!!!

We have an Antonio Carraro TTR 4400 equipped with a Muthing MUE160 mulching flail, it's being used for vegetation management, firewood processing and soon, small scale skidding operations. For us it ticks all the boxes: compact, great stand spec, reversible, reliable.

 

The only other thing you could consider is a Reform 4GX bank tractor: 4ws, 4x4, low centre of gravity, low impact....

I have an AGT850 (Riko) and INO 1.6 flail (on Y Blades). It copes V well on really slopey stuff and will take reasonably sized stuff (3'' thorn bush, gorse etc) if you go steady. Would probably cope even better with hammers. The tractors doesn't miss a beat and the reverse drive certainly takes the neck ache out of the job. Only mod I have done is reversing the rear tyres.

What are you cutting with it Richard? I have a flail on mine that will theretically take 3" material, its good on brambles and scrub but doesn't have an openable hood... Let me know if you want to see it....
