Sides that slope off at the back are a pet hate of mine...

I like to fire my chip into the back and forget, but then I can pack mine to the brim and not worry about overloading :D

When you blow chip into the back, it will make a rounded pile, not a block with a right angle corner.

No S***

Maybe your chipper is bust our chip tips out like a hay bale :001_smile:

It would take a lot more work to put a radius on the side, so you just chop of the corner.

It would take a lot less work to do nothing and cut nothing off.

I think that there is alot less chip/dust blowing out of the back/side of the truck if you dont cut the corners off.

Well thats my excuse for not being arsed doing it :001_tongue:

you might be shocked. I know Dean Lofthouse weighed his landie with a modest amount of chip and all his usual gear on and was close to the 3.5tonne limit. There is a thread on here somewhere with the details. I have weighed mine off and can only be just over half full to be near the 3.5 tonne limit

Truck weighed empty, with climbing/rigging gear and 4 saws, came out at an impressive 2520kg, add to that slim and trim me, makes little difference. Add to that my pregnant wife and we are well over hahahaha:001_tongue:

So legally I should get nearly a tonne.??

You could knock another 200kg off for you, groundy and a ladder.

Then knock off your diesel can, brush, shovel, rake, cones, signs, etc.

Add the chipper nose weight and it all gets rather depressing....

my tranny with built sides weighs 2200kgs and i have a heavy tipper body.

but 1300kgs seams ok i like having two trannys cheaper than 7.5 tonne truck for insurance and taxing dont need a yard to park them dont have taco.

so on big days that 2600kgs which i find perfect.

I bought an ex council transit with a cage, and a small toolbox on the back with side access. As from the pictures you can see i ply lined the inside of the cage with 6mm ply. Undercoat and the painted. works a treat. barn doors on the back and a plastic cover on top so no one can see in. can carry about 900kg of waste. would prob get aluminum dropsides next time to keep the weight down.
