  9. I have just got a zigzag and really like it. Used to use a hitch and on bigger trees used to leave the tail of the rope over another branch and then disconnect from my harness and pull tail of rope to get hitch back over branch and back to me. saves climbing back up. is there any way to do this with a zigzag as when you pull the tail the whole system will go up to anchor point. Hope this makes sense
  10. Brilliant. Thanks very much. I have all the serial numbers if anything is found. Chris

  13. Yesterday I came across a wasp nest in a conifer. They had taken over a old squirrel drey so when I saw it I was worried. It wasn't until I had got above it and put my foot in it that I realised what it was. They swarmed at me very quickly and I have never climbed down 25ft so quickly. Ran across the garden took my helmet off and threw my jumper across the garden and carried on running, harness and ropes still attached to me. I managed to to get away with about 30 stings on my hands and he back of my head. But thankfully I threw my jumper across the garden after reading a thread on here about doing that and that was where the wasps swarmed all over my jumper. Just wanted to say a big thank you to Arb Talk and to who it was that wrote about throwing your jumper to distract the wasp. Saved me a lot of problems. Chris.
  14. Majestic Tree near St Albans, Hertfordshire have a very large stock and I can highly recommend them.
  15. I'm doing a job in Hatfield, Herts, in a few weeks for a friend of mine. Out of my normal area and wondering if any one knows of somewhere I can get rid of chip and logs. thanks
  16. I am insured by Trust and they have been really good. I can go up to any height and 3m below ground to cover for grinding. £5m Public Liability.
  17. All I will say is brilliant. Bought mine a few weeks ago and I love it. Makes climbing much easier as you are climbing on a pulley. As for removal mine has come out everytime. Is a lot of money to have falling out the tree but I'm pretty good at catching.
  18. Hi all again, I have been using mid surrey farm to tip at over the last few months and they have been very helpful. However I still find it hard to pay to get rid of good woodchip and logs. I was paying a monthly charge for unlimited tipping before so paying £35 a tonne is affecting the price on bigger jobs quite a bit. Does anyone know of any other places I can tip at. I often work in cobham, leatherhead, merton, epsom etc. thanks.
  19. I need a new place to tip in or around the Epsom area. Can anyone suggest anywhere? thanks
  20. Hi, I'm looking for a consultant who would cover Surrey and West Sussex area to use as and when I need one. Can anyone suggest somebody? Thanks
  21. I think they are brilliant bit of kit. Only problem is the velcro is starting to wear out on mine now. It's not really that old. Anyone else had this? Also what silkys do people use with it? I use a NatoNoko but have broken the clips on it which means it doesn't lock in place anymore. Not the first I've broke even. Just been on HB website and looks like there is a new design. Prehaps I will be making a phone call in the morning.
  22. Real sad news. Heard today about a climber found in a tree after bleeding to death the other day. No one on the ground and I believe the customer found him. Don't think it has made the press yet though. Climb safe!
  23. Thanks guys. He just phoned back and I asked for some of his references since he wanted some of mine. My battery must have died or bad line because suddenly he wasn't there!! All I want is bit more regular work for my business. It is true - word of mouth is the best and that takes time. Appreciate the prompt replies. Ta Chris
  24. Hi, I have been approached by a company called building trade database to carry out all tree surgery in a certain area. They are commission based and charge a one of charge to get set up of £200 +VAT. Anyone heard of them? Or should i stay clear? Thanks
