  1. Hi, I am after a self-employed climber for the odd day here and there, mainly when I have bigger jobs on. I'm based in Epsom, Surrey and carry out work in and around the area. If your interested then PM me. Thanks. Chris
  2. In keeping with my sports science background I can tell you that everyone should be drinking 1.5 litres of liquid a day. But for us who work hard and so sweat more we need to consume much more. Normal day I'm doing 2 litres of squash and any tea the customer makes. As it gets warmer we need to consume more. The more dehydrated we get the less we concentrate etc and so more accidents happen. I won't bore you with more but keep the fluids up. I find a Sigg bottle has enough room for a Karabiner and so easy to get into the tree.
  3. I'm looking into the foundation degree or the Tech Cert. Can anyone tell me which one would be best to do and what would be the next stage after gaining the qualification. thanks
  4. Completely agree about harness and PPE. They didn't even know how you would get to the dead wood in the top of the crown. And for the boss; not knowing the difference between a laurel and a sweet chestnut even though he had been in the industry since 1979. very poor.
  5. I bought an ex council transit with a cage, and a small toolbox on the back with side access. As from the pictures you can see i ply lined the inside of the cage with 6mm ply. Undercoat and the painted. works a treat. barn doors on the back and a plastic cover on top so no one can see in. can carry about 900kg of waste. would prob get aluminum dropsides next time to keep the weight down.
  6. Hi all, this is my first post but hopefully it makes sense surely the easiest way to determine how big those conifers were is to ask how long the climbing rope whether it touched the ground when the climber was at the top. thanks
