Being good on fuel is one of my main reason for getting one and being able to carry abit of kit and going off quoting work its on 72k with full service history so fingers crossed she will be a good un.

If you don't know much about vehicles then it's down to luck imo:001_rolleyes:

There is a cracking Berlingo on Arbtrader, I have driven it, pocket rocket, uses hardly any fuel and only used for exactly what you want 1 for.:thumbup1:

We,re on to our third one. The first one I bought for 700 quid and it lasted me through most of college. it was a beauty but it caught fire on the m25 at 3am on the way to a job interview. (Still made it to the interview and they gave me the job) second one was bought straight after that, loved it, so economical and lovely to drive. The ecu went on it and cost a bomb though. We sold it after a good few years as my wife wanted a focus. The focus was okay but drank so much fuel in comparison. We sank that one in a flood and immediately bought another Astra. It's an 07 but they are the same engine same build as the 05 I think. Very good car, super economic and lovely to drive, the 1.7 is a good engine with enough torque but still economic.

The first Astra had done 230,000 before it gave up. Never cost me anything up until then. Of course there is always going to be exceptions to this but I couldn't recommend them more highly.

The old ones are much more reliable and dirt cheap to repair but gutless and heavier on Fuel. The newer ones are good on fuel or go like stink can do both but not at the same time. With the new stuff you get a good one or bad one. If they go bang your in for at least 4k

I have a 57 plate 1.7 CDTI got it remapped for fuel and a bit more boot and its brilliant! I do about 2000 miles a month in mine and its really comfy the only thing is road noise from the back is a bit anoying by I put a thick towel from the ceiling to floor behind the seats and it works really well to block out the noise and only having 2 seats is a right pain in the arse. I get about 45-50MPG and I would get another one tomorrow
