if you look at stove looks like a raburn or similar. and did it have a back boiler fitted and the pipes became blocked so back boiler got hotter unable to release its presure so went bang. looks the case may be wrong

Looks more like a Park Ray than a conventional free standing wood burner . Back boiler possibly ? Inset type . Some kind of blockage me thinks .

frozen pipes on the hot water system can block the

pipes,causing a build up of pressure.A nearby farm kitchen was blown

up on Christmas morning, killing the farmers wife so I was bought up

to make sure the pipes were not frozen before I light the fire.

I am not in any way encouraging this but know certain wood men who get thieving from piles of cord near roads and laybys. Inch hole drilled in timber and what ever projectile of your choice glued in with woodchippings and silicone/ superglue. By projectile i mean 3x .22 rimfire / CO2 cartridge from paslode nail gun even know one bloke who riddled the last bit of timber left after a biggish theft with .243 pointing outwards. in my opion a nutter and should not have section one but it would put you off of nicking firewood if that was your game, problem is might get flogged onto innocent lady possibly as above !

Burning non-smokeless in a sealed stove? Years ago I had a Parkray and if I stoked it up with coal or wood I used to wait for the bang in the chimney and stove as the build up of unburnt gases suddenly ignited.

Yea possibly but looks more like a blocked pipe job to me . Never mind a 254 What about a 308 or hell yes a 50 cal !
