British farming forum is what led me here ! Its now posting a message saying to change any passwords that are the same, well thats an absolute pain cos have so many now ! As they always said on BFF be careful what you post, locations , equipment and confidential details, mods on there have even deleted posts due to too much info ! Cyber surf safe kids:thumbup:

Its as safe as it can be. I use a number of different peaces of software throughout the site, all of which need to be kept constantly updated with the latest security patches...which we do. Other than that theres not a lot else that can be done. If the hackers target the site they can get in, simple as that. Ultimately its down to you to make sure you cover yourself, mostly with a common sense approach, ie make sure you have anti virus software installed, secure passwords etc. Tommy mentioned having too many passwords. I use any old passwords for the general forums I use. I think the important thing to remember is not to use your important passwords on multiple sites. For example, your password for arbtalk could be 'pencil' if you so wish, just make sure your internet banking passwords, email password, and anything else which contains sensitive information has a higher level of password protection, preferably 12 digits long and a mixture of letters in upper and lower case, numbers, and symbols such as % $ ? /

Steve,

Apologies if that came over other than intended.

I do not intersnot bank and only very occ pay over the net.

Being generally a trifle paranoid.

I was simply curious, assuming that the BFF site was very professionally run, therefore should presumably have good security.

But was totally hacked.

Other than a few forums where I use "run of the mill" passwords,

I use other different and I hope reasonably secure passwords for owt important.

Buggered if I can remember them mind.

cheers,
